INTRODUCTION
The use of polyamides for the production of music strings dates back to the 1950's and gradually took the place of gut, especially in the field of plucked instruments such as the Guitar and the Lute. Compared with gut, nylon strings undoubtedly offer some practical advantages, such as longer playing life, higher stability in case of climatic changes and relatively lower prices. Most of the Nylon strings on the market are made with DuPont Nylon, so most are essentially the same. Aquila has located a company in South America that produces a superior grade of Nylon, and uses this Nylon for their string production. There is a sonic difference. FIELD OF APPLICATION
Research applied to synthetic materials has singled out the best polyamides to be used for musical instrument strings. Aquila Nylon strings are available in a wide variety of diameters covering high and mid registers and grant what is expected of a good string: manufacturing precision, clean sound, promptness to the touch, long playing life, and excellent acoustical qualities.

PLAIN NYLON STRINGS "N" TYPE
Plain Nylon strings are manufactured according to best experience for high and mid-range applications.

WOUND NYLGUT STRINGS, 105cm "D" TYPE
First quality nylgut multifilament core is wound with pure copper wire, manufactured according to best experience. This innovative idea was devised to partly limit the production of high overtones, an undesirable aspect that is generally present in this type of string. This important result was achieved without reducing the wire diameter only, which would noticeably affect the string's playing life.

180cm "D" Type Strings
Manufactured to the same design characteristics of the 105cm D type strings, the 180cm version is ideal for the diapasons of archlutes, theorbos, and chitarroni. See price list below.
